We recently had the pleasure of going on a River tour in Sandwich with the wonderful Captain Colin Carr. We wanted to see remains of The Port of Richborough from the water and find traces of the old railway line which would have served the British Army on the Western Front. As well as the disintigrating railway line there is also evidence of old buildings which are now crumbled bits of concrete. Not much has survived but Colin pointed out a sunken German ship and imparted his knowledge on Richborough Port during the time of WW1. It was great to imagine what the River would have been like during this time and a highlight was seeing the sealions basking in the sun. Thankyou Captain Colin!
