Sandwich Guildhall artefacts

Posted on June 23, 2015

On our last visit Ray drew us some maps on our visit explaining where we can find remnants of pill boxes left in the landscape around sandwich. We also were able to open the cabinets in the museum to get a better look at the artefacts on display. There is a huge safe in the museum which is more like a large cupboard. The caretaker kindly opened this up for us to take a look at a German gun which was found in the loft of the museum….nothing more is known about it or where it came from. Amongst the other items are a bible, a ration book and a death medal presented to familes of lost relations.

We discussed the possibility of organising a workshop to coincide with Sandwich Arts week in September where we will offer the chance to make your own commemorative Sandwich medal.
