Round and round we go

Drawing up ideas for a WW1 bicycle animation has really tested my drawing skills.
I’ve taken some carbon paper that used to belong to my Grandfather’s print company to build back up my precision. It’s been an odd relation to the project – an old family business that has influenced my zine/book/print passion. Theses would transform nicely into a flip book too.

Using carbon paper reminds me of map making, tracing and remnants. By using it as a medium to repeat, for overlapping and even just as single prints (the carbon itself is nice when you hold it up to the light) has been an insightful process.

Once I finish a full turn of the wheel with my digital version I’ll be looking at making ‘tracks’ with these on a zoetrope.
