Researching lithograph techniques today, discovered works by Claude Shepperson titled Tending the Wounded, from ‘Britain’s Efforts and Ideals’ in 1917. Was also reminded of Frank Brangwyn’s The Ruins of War series and found his 1917 series The Great War: Britain’s Efforts and Ideals. The exhibition catalogue, The Sensory War 1914-2014, also includes a series of delicate drawings of disabled soldiers recovering in hospital by French female artist Rosine Cahen. In all these works, the sky connects – a space of hope.
